Multi-Agency Resource Centers Opening Across Arkansas for Disaster Survivors; “One-Stop Shop” Offering Relief and Recovery Resources

LITTLE ROCK, ARK. – Local nonprofit organizations and voluntary agencies are coming together to open a “one-stop shop” for survivors of the March tornadoes. Representatives from agencies such as the Red Cross, Salvation Army, Southern Baptist Disaster Relief, Arkansas Food Bank and many more will be available to provide assistance at these Multi-Agency Resource Centers (MARCs) from Friday through Tuesday, April 21 -  25, in Jacksonville, Little Rock and Wynne, respectively.

  • Friday, April 21, 11am – 7pm – Mount Pisgah Baptist Church, Curtis A. Green Community Life Center, 1026 Ray Rd., Jacksonville, AR 72076
  • Saturday, April 22, 11am – 7pm – Shackleford Crossing, 2614 S. Shackleford Rd., Suite C, Little Rock, AR 72205
  • Sunday, April 23, 1 – 6pm – Shackleford Crossing, 2614 S. Shackleford Rd., Suite C, Little Rock, AR 72205
  • Monday, April 24, 11am – 7pm – Union Valley Baptist Church, 703 F St., Wynne, AR 72396
  • Tuesday, April 25, 11am – 7pm – First Assembly of God, 1900 Kilough Rd., Wynne, AR 72396

Representatives and caseworkers from multiple non-profit and faith-based organizations will be available at the MARC to provide disaster survivors with resources and assistance to address specific disaster-caused needs, including mental health, financial assistance and other items and services. MARCs should not be confused with FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers located in affected areas throughout the storm path. Childcare will be provided onsite by Children’s Disaster Services, while caretakers work with on-site service providers.

“Voluntary organizations active in disaster exist to support Arkansans during times of disaster,” said Arkansas VOAD Chair Katie Kasten. “Already, this community has pulled together to help their neighbors affected by the tornadoes. We know from experience that bringing together multiple partners to one place helps people navigate the road to recovery. It will be a long road, but our agencies are here to help people take their next steps.

Individuals and families can meet with agencies for referrals or other services, even if your family is not eligible for government assistance or if that assistance is inadequate to meet your needs.

Individuals and families applying for assistance are encouraged to bring identification showing address and proof of residence to be eligible for assistance from some agencies.

For housing assistance, the Red Cross, DHS, and ADEM continue to offer temporary shelter in hotels and motels for Arkansans displaced by the tornadoes in Pulaski, Lonoke and Cross counties. If you or someone you know was displaced and needs a place to stay, call 1-800-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-2767). All disaster assistance is free and does not need to be repaid.
